Theology and religion are in the same place as biology and health care were a few hundred years ago before evidence based treatement began to have an effect.
Have dropped back another 18 years to 1982 by which time I had rejected Catholicism, but did not have the new story together. My first try was the theory of peace, an essay on the creation of space for everybody. A theory of Peace 1987: Lecture 1: Mathematical Theology

Our economy must recognise that we are ell entitled to stake a claim in noetic space and with this right comes a right to sufficient physical resources to realize the spiritual right.

Transcribing notes from 1982 when I was bad news for women.
The bit of redemption: God is not the Universe to is [the Universe]. Monarchy, or more generally violent repression of human bandwidth,is an unstable structure and leaders, like Abbott and the other monarchs of the world, destabilize and impoverish societies.
In the transfinite numbers, whence does freedom come? From care of the physical substrate, because a small increase in physical resolution yields an exponentially increasing resolution in higher, ore complex layers.

Steady rain, nothing to say. In the absence of a benevolent God watching over us our life is what we make it. Our experience is that the divine world is on the whole quite as benevolent as any ancient God, and we are doing very well, perhaps too well, out of this benevolence by consuming global capital which we should be preserving for the future.

Griffel, D H, Applied Functional Analysis, Dover Publications 2002 Amazon customer review: '... The main strength of Griffel's book is its readability. It is one of the most accessible advanced math books I have encountered, comparable to Munkres' "Topology". Griffel explains the intuitions underlying the abstract concepts he presents. He is also careful to point out when he makes a simplification or omission to avoid a difficult or subtle point more suitable to a pure math treatment of the subject. Furthermore, Griffel explains the logic behind his notation, something that is rarely done in math texts. Each chapter concludes with a set of problems. The problems are challenging, but test and expand the reader's understanding of the material. Hints are given for many of the problems.
Overall, this is an excellent resource for the applied mathematician, engineer, or scientist who wants an accessible introduction to functional analysis. Besides, the price of the Dover Edition makes this book a real bargain. Reviewer:"elddm" (Boston, Ma United States)
