Still at sea over the direction of creation saves. Started with the idea of three "moral' sites based on faith, hope and charity, but this now feels rather pointless, and a much better deal is to keep the network / love / layering / symmetry with respect to complexity paradigm going. The moral foundation is that the stability if the higher layers depends on looking after the lower layers, as in dealing with massive trauma requires maintaining the fluid environment in the body so as to maintain cellular life.
In the mysterious / literary page [ l4l02_mysterious] the point to make up that the awareness at the human level presented in literature operates without any real understanding of the physical underpinning which maintains society [possibly because the literary classes are maintained by servants and have no real awareness of how they are supported]. We have lots of literature from the Roman Empire but know almost nothing about its economy. The key to the green revolution is to make us aware

of our foundations and this requires science to guide our imagination. Roman Economy - Wikipedia

Frost: Wiki: 'Everything written is as good as it s dramatic. It need not declare itself in form but it is drama or nothing.' Robert Frost (1929): Drama
' A complete poem is one where an emotion finds the thought and the thought finds the words.' (Frost)
The simple god, the initial singularity, is the source of emotion (random motion) which is shaped by more and more layers of selection.
'In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life – it goes on.'
War is by far the stupidest thing we ever do. It is murder on an industrial scale. War and murder in general are catastrophes in the mathematical sense and they are built into evolution by the malthusian impact of exponential growth and the limitation of resources that arises when one cannot live unless another dies. Behind it lies the lust for life. There comes a situation where two can no longer live in the available space. Either one must die passively by some form of starvation, or one must actively kill the other in the hope of avoiding starvation. The Christian option of turning the other cheek not very practical in such a zero sum situation. This is the source of predation when one is the source of food for the other. A similar situation [arises] when two share the same food and here is only enough for one. The only way to avoid murder and war is to avoid such zero sum situations [through] some form of prudence, which requires foresight, planning, cooperation, diplomacy and ultimately a practical understanding of our human situation. Our understanding ultimately comes from theology. The application of this understanding is religion, that we see as the technology of peace within groups. On the other hand, when groups encounter a zero sum situation, the lust for their lives leads to war. In other words both peace and war can occur at all scales. The human race as a whole, while it is expanding exponentially conducts war on the planet, killing the planet to obtain the resources for war. (Nicholls (1992a)). This is the introduction to l4l00_murder and war. 'We have to kill to live . . . '. Jeffrey Nicholls (1992a): An essay on value

Now I am a bit stuck. Does my theology provde a foundation for a global ethics? Aquinas was preaching to the converted with 2000 years of omniscient and omnipotent godhead behind him. I am setting out on the turbulent unpredictable sea of evolution trying to lead us to paradise. Can it be done? How can it be done? What does cognitive cosmology teach us? Prudence, the precautionary principle, symmetry, cooperation. Prudence - Wikipedia, Precautionary principle - Wikipedia, Cooperation - Wikipedia
From paradise via war and wealth to paradise. Thomas Aquinas lived in a very simple world. His omniscient and omnipotent God created [angelic] paradise. Then pride, the root of evil, set in. There was war in heaven between the good and the bad angels. the bad angels were defeated and cast out of heaven to become devils. God created a paradise for humanity but the bad angels, in the person of Satan, seduced us and God destroyed paradise and infected us also with pride. We wanted to be like God and eat from the forbidden tree of knowledge and we too split into warring factions. The Saviour came and founded God's church which very soon became a wealthy military force with its own armies, whose task was to exterminate heretics. This pattern became entrenched and the Wars of Religion began. In the end, in Armageddon, the Catholic Church will win. Those who obey the Church will enter a new paradise, a world remade on the original plan. Half of us will end up in heaven, the other half in hell, the wages of obedience and the wages of sin. The only problem with this story is that it is false. Aquinas, Summa II, II, 162, 7: Is pride the first sin of all?, John Milton (1674): Paradise Lost, Armageddon - Wikipedia
We make a new beginning, with an omnipotent god which is no longer omniscient. It acts at random. Most of the random hits fail, but natural selection picks out the systems that work. . . . but now competition for resources is indigenous and wealth, control and war remain with us. The question is: how can we recreate paradise? Now obedience to the Church, or in fact obedience to many churches, is a new soure of competition and war. How are to to get beyond this situation in a world of mutually assured destruction. This is the question we face in lust for life, What can we say? Is there an answer to our plight? Can it be derived from the new model of god that includes black holes and supernovas (Cognitive Cosmology)? What is the ground for hope? The answer, if any, must be derived from the new god. The only way forward, central to the construction of multicellular creatures, relies on the common genotype shared by all the cells in a living body. What is the human answer to this? Not pride, but cooperation built on a common analogue of the genotype, a common understanding of our plight which explains to us the necessity for prudent management which means that we all accept our symmetry and work together.
The moral volume [site, Lust for life] is a mirror image of the cognitive / evolutionary volume.
We create paradise in the same way that the universe creates paradise. Our bodies are a paradise for our cells. A few deviants can cause trouble and [so can] pathogens coming from outside, but our immune system can take care of that.

Burleigh: The political impact of poets, dreamers and other imaginative individuals (artists) seems to be the most decisive factor in decisions to go to war. This points to the narrowmindedness that I imagine can be cured by recognizing the function of Cantor's theorem in mathematics. He seeks a church as broad as mathematics, like god and the universe all of which are bound in theory by contradiction and in individual cases by death, so eliminating an individual proposition by dynamical interaction with another proposition, ie victim and murdered or predator and prey or body and disease.
page 183: ' "Passion and imagination have won victories where reason and self interest would have attempted in vain and it was on these subtle forces that the young men mainly counted." '
Quantum mechanics is linear and the world is stable insofar as it is controlled by quantum mechanics. Non-linearity, ie positive feedback leads to catastrophe as is amply demonstrated by he stories in Burleigh which are on the whole accounts of movements, ie positive feedbacks forced by non-equilibrium social conditions. The prevention of zero-sum situations in human affairs requires the linearization of society which seems to imply maximum entropy arisin from human symmetry [, ie equal rights and democracy].
Nonlinearity → extinction / explosion / catastrophe.
So we linearize by symmetry and then choose by lot and then test choices by testing so in a lottery there will be a quasi-infinitesimal proportion of winning tickets.

Creation saves is now flowing. Too abstract, so the case for lust-4-life is improving and the core of it may be redefinition of fittest as in "survival of the fittest" understood in terms of grace, entropy and P-NP where the creation of NP systems is part of the grace of randomness taking us to places where determinism cannot go, which prove nevertheless to be deterministic enough to survive, like us. This an an expression of creation saves in the evolutionary frame which is the basic idea (in terms of art) of my whole program, the only way for an omnipotent initial singularity to become omniscient, as it is the only way for for a warlord like Babur to create an empire which provided an environment for an explosion of culture. This idea gives a little credence to the idea that god ≡ reality allows evil for the greater good. Is this what the people of Ukraine are dying for? Zahiru'd-din Mohammad Babur (2020): The Babur Nama

The decision focused on adaptation, and basically ignored mitigation. Adaptation failures are much easier to prove, because there is no need to grapple with the question of who has caused the harms. So much of that 1960s-era world has passed away, but the council is still with us; indeed for a divided church its still-unfolding consequences cannot be escaped.
For a long time this would have been a liberal claim. In the wars within Catholicism that followed the council, the conservatives interpreted Vatican II as a discrete and limited event — a particular set of documents that contained various shifts and evolutions (on religious liberty and Catholic-Jewish relations especially) and opened the door to a revised, vernacular version of the Mass. For the liberals, though, these specifics were just the starting place: There was also a “spirit” of the council, similar to the Holy Spirit in its operation, that was supposed to guide the church into further transformations, perpetual reform.' back |

Massive colliding-wind binaries that host a Wolf–Rayet (WR) star present a potentially important source of dust and chemical enrichment in the interstellar medium. However, the chemical composition and survival of dust formed from such systems is not well understood. The carbon-rich Wolf–Rayet binary WR 140 presents an ideal astrophysical laboratory for investigating these questions, given its well-defined orbital period and predictable dust-formation episodes every 7.93 years around periastron passage. We present observations from our Early Release Science programme (ERS 1349) with the James Webb Space Telescope Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) Medium-Resolution Spectrometer and Imager that reveal the spectral and spatial signatures of nested circumstellar dust shells around WR 140. MIRI medium-resolution spectroscopy of the second dust shell and Imager detections of over 17 shells formed throughout approximately the past 130 years confirm the survival of carbonaceous dust grains from WR 140 that are probably carriers of ‘unidentified infrared’-band features at 6.4 and 7.7 μm. The observations indicate that dust-forming carbon-rich Wolf–Rayet binaries can enrich the interstellar medium with organic compounds and carbonaceous dust.' back |
