Will we ever get there? Only by effort, and even then, only if the idea is consistent with reality. The new American empire, however, needs leavening with a humanitarian ideal that has scientific rather than just political backing. The completion of the task comes down to self confidence, which in turn depends upon personal conviction that the case is good, and the energy to propagate the cause. This seems to be something like the mental process that Muhammad (and other prophets) went through.

The salvation of the world depends on good management, which is based on good organization which is based on consistency. Total formal consistency can only achieved in a static system, like mathematics. In fact time is of the essence, and organizations must be able to adapt to a changing environment. This requires a certain amount of inconsistency (the error signal) and uncertainty in a survival oriented system.

One is moving around an attractor in the space of existence. This attractor is peace, which we postulate arises when there is a protocol in place for dealing with every eventuality in an agreed manner. So the business of killing and the rule of law.

STOP DIVINE KILLING

The Christian god is a killer god.

How big is god?
a) logical confinement
b) cardinal confinement = not(logical confinement)

Often this work is easy because there is enough novelty to create excitement but the need to go commercial changes that somewhat. Under the influence of commercial (survival) force, time becomes of the essence and so it becomes necessary to suppress some desires to keep the job going. Yet the potential benefit justifies the momentary pain and makes the job feasible. If one believes in the outcome, levels of effort up to martyrdom are possible.

Loneliness (long distance from home) leads to writing (narrow bandwidth communication) better suited to travelling the long distance to home.

Up to Newton. More abstract and more complex.

Mathematics is a game played in a space. The space gradually got larger and more complex and the rules simpler.

Huizinga, Johan, The Waning of the Middle Ages, University Of Chicago Press 1997 Amazon editorial review: 'In 1919, Johan Huizinga revealed in the original version of this book that the ideals, aspirations, and behaviors of humanity in history were dramatically different from those in present day. In Herfsttjj der Middeleeuwen, he recalled the waning years of the Middle Ages--the low countries in northern Europe in the 14th and 15th centuries--and argued against those who claimed that human belief systems remain the same even if contexts change. His account rested not on historical fact, but on the emotions and ambitions of the people as expressed through the art and literature of their culture. Many people treated the book as groundbreaking work, and it was translated into English in 1924. This new translation is a complete, more direct version of the original and allows modern readers a full appreciation of life in an era rarely revisited.'

Ferdowsi - Wikipedia Ferdowsi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 'Hakīm Abu'l-Qāsim Firdawsī Tūsī (Persian: حکیم ابوالقاسم فردوسی توسی), more commonly transliterated as Ferdowsi (or Firdausi), (940–1020) is a highly revered Persian poet. He was the author of the Shāhnāmeh, the national epic of Persian people and of the Iranian World. . . .

Ferdowsi is one of the undisputed giants of Persian literature. After Ferdowsi's Shāhnāmeh a number of other works similar in nature surfaced over the centuries within the cultural sphere of the Persian language. Without exception, all such works were based in style and method on Ferdowsi's Shāhnāmeh, but none of them could quite achieve the same degree of fame and popularity as Ferdowsi's masterpiece.' back
