We like to think of our business [physicaltheology.com] as an organism of which the site is a snapshot. The genetic code of this organism is the whole of mathematics, discovered and undiscovered. At present the enterprise is in an embryonic state, and we foresee a seven year gestation, starting from the southern summer solstice, 2002.

Psychology is the study of mind. We understand mind by understanding the genesis of mind, just as we understand life by looking at the evolution of life.

Transfinite transitions are bearings where motion can occur, as we learn by examining human languages and seeing that the choice of sounds in a particular language and the association between sound and meaning is completely arbitrary.

While the evolution of our species and our environment

[138]

has taken billions of years, the evolution of an individual human mind takes only a few decades. Further, each of us has experienced this process personally and watched it happening in others: our own children and our children's children and all the other children in our lives.

This is gorgeous to watch, but we eventually become aware that here, as everywhere, things can go wrong. Some developmental problems result from genetic errors, some from social errors, and some from a mixture (superposition) of both. A typical genetic problem is Down's Syndrome resulting from the presence of three rather than two copies of chromosome 21.

We are here concerned with the social side of psychological development and particularly the impact of religions on the mental development of the children of their believers. As ever our paradigm for this discussion will in the first instance be the Roman Catholic Church, since we have very personal experience of the pathology that this particular constellation of untruths can cause.

Pathology drives science, since we are not really motivated to fix things until they are broken. Once broken we need to know how they properly work to see where they have gone wrong. Diseases of the cellular reproduction apparatus like cancer, for instance, have driven us to a deep understanding of the normal functioning of the cell. We begin, therefore, by postulating a normal developmental mechanism and using this as a foundation for studying the various socially induced developmental deficits which stress individuals and the societies they inhabit.

There are two ways to move an ecosystem from A to B., which we may call scorched earth and incremental. Scorched earth we raze everything and

[page 139]

plant a whole new crop. Incrementalism means replacing a unit here and there, perhaps at random, perhaps with some overall plan. The former case describes ecology, where individuals come and go. Incrementalism boils down to instances of local scorched earth. Something dies, something is born in its place. Ethically, we may want to maximize instances of 'natural death' and minimize instances of violent death. From a cybernetic point of view, each death corresponds to a fatal error - an error of such potent meaning that the system cannot go on with it, ie the failure of an essential subsystem (like a heart). The purpose of poison (and violence in general) is to cause such a failure and so eliminate an element of competition. I live at the expense of other potential lives. An eco-ethical question of then How much am I entitled to?

RELIGION = SOURCE OF ETHICS.

Beginning the process of disentangling my web presence into personal [www.naturaltheology.net] and corporate [www.physicaltheology.com] sites. The personal site attracts readers from personal interest, ie they enjoy exposure of another person's thoughts and feelings, which give meaning to our own thoughts and feelings, just as the

[page 140]

mouse genome gives meaning to the human genome.

MEANING = CORRESPONDENCE

The transfinite network models the system of all possible (transfinite) correspondences between the elements of Cantor space.

We can study the power and efficiency of algorithms in CANTOR (pointer) space, since by using pointers (names) we can [mentally, abstractly] manipulate whole galaxies with minimal effort.

MODEL07MATHEMATICS: Is the transfinite network isomorphic to mathematics?

Also the corporate site , which attracts by offering a more abstract and generalized form of value (a product, rather than a person). This product is a tool to study the ethical aspects of human life, in other words a religion.

The marketing of religion: from sword to ?

Personal interface to person = PERSONAL ETHICS RELIGION
Corporate interface to corporation = CORPORATE ETHICS RELIGION.
