They say that fighting for peace is the same as fucking for virginity, but although it sounds good, the parallel seems inexact. One must resist the forces that break the peace. I see myself as arming for an assault on the the fundamentalist wings of the established religions. My aim is to assemble weapons of such overwhelming force that the result is a relatively bloodless victory, rather like the cold war which ended not with a bang but a whimper. My discipline (sacrifice if you like) is to apply myself to developing the idea (which seems irrefutable in my mind) that the Universe is god and that we can found a scientific theology on our everyday experiences of god. The sacrificial element of this arises from working alone. The next step really is to develop the websites into my interactive medium so as to form a community. My fear has always been that this will expose me to a lot of half baked opinions, but this must be faced and can be dealt with by demanding empirical foundations for everything asserted. In this way we can see theology emerging from the alchemical to the chemical stage of development.

SACRIFICE - SCHOOL Busy work.

Now that the websites have reached a relatively stable structure as far as content goes, the time has come to embed them in a more dynamic environment where people have read and write access. At the moment it has a fairly deep tree structure, but it could also be laid out as a flat structure with a web of cross references so that a reader starting at

[page 82]

any point and following a reasonable proportion of the links can end up at any point. The beauty of the tree structure is that it adds a taxonomy and so additional [contextual information].

The World Wide Web, with enough bandwidth, could implement the neutron star model in the Portrait of an Abstract Man.

The story: Horst, very well connected military services tycoon gets bored with his fabulous wealth and the pointless pursuit of ever more expensive weapons. Much of his wealth has arisen from selling the same services to each side of each conflict, keeping it bubbling along profitably. No more. Old age has led him to think of eternity and life after death. Of course he is far too cynical to believe any religious pr about eternal heaven for reincarnated good people, but he knows enough quantum mechanics and computing and communication theory to realize that if every relevant feature of his life process could be reincarnated in a suitable substrate, he could go on experiencing life as though nothing had happened. So with a trillion of two of spare cash, he knocks up a rig to teleport himself to a cold neutron star which has quite an adequate number of internal quantum states to represent any number of people and their interactions. To make a 'bestseller' we have to build some sort of drama centered on this scenario.

The drag of responsibility. I should be working for the hall, getting my car going, the dishes, the washing; but my deepest feeling is that my fittest course is to minimize all the background tasks and get on with the religion business.

A certain energy (that is processing rate) is required to create each type of particle (change of state in the quantum world)

The evil of most religions lies not so much in their

[page 82]

cultures and beliefs, as in their institutional arrangements, like hierarchies, popes, ayatollahs, etc.

Probability theory establishes a 'flat' space in which thee is no communication, ie all events are independent. The resulting theory is just the general theory of additive set functions. Kolmogorov page 8. Kolmogorov

It is against this independent space that we discern dependencies which we attribute to communication and structure and that sort of stuff.

INDEPENDENT = DISTINCT = NO OVERLAP (REAL)

QUANTUM THEORY = OVERLAP THEORY = THEORY OF COMMUNICATION

Overlap = correlation = non-orthogonality.

Weeks page 39: A manifold exists in and of itself and need not be in any higher space. Weeks

Implementation of Shannon requires computation which implies delay. So both the particle nature of messages and the finite speed of light might be attributed to the requirement for error free transmission of information.

TEMPERATURE and ENTROPY
CARDINAL ORDINAL
ENERGY INFORMATION

We have an entropy measure on probability space.

Temperature and entropy are together invariant, f(TEMPERATURE, ENTROPY) = 0.

Gibbs

Survival for a time t (measured in events) means having enough resources to deal with the distribution of impacts one is likely to [experience].

People naturally date things by the day the queens was born or somebody died, wars, events i other words. An event has a lifetime.

Emmy Noether: 'What is to follow, therefore, represents combination of the methods of the formal calculus of variations with those of group theory.'

2 theorems.

'Theorem 1 comprises all theorems on first integrals known to mechanics etc, while theorem II may be described as the utmost possible generalization of the 'general theory of relativity' in group theory. Emmy Noether

God is an ocean with an infinite fractal shore. How do we reconcile the multiplicity of Cantor with the simplicity of God? Easy, the texts are like walls, defining spaces in which continuous, simple motions occur, constrained by the walls but not necessarily divided by them (unless we have closed rooms). The same with software, which can execute seamlessly on the network linking libraries spread around the planet.

Even god is not capable of intelligent design: we must all work by trial and error to find paths through the complex worlds in which we find ourselves.

PATH = CONTINUUM = OVERLAP.

Corruption arises when a system is not complete, ie it is not a group. In a corrupt system some actions lead outside the system and must be dealt with in a 'corrupt' way.

We are all bound to 'the system' by a need to 'make a living'.

When we measure a system we find out how much it overlaps the basis vector which we are using as our measuring rod.

Now we want to look at the Cantor Universe though quantum mechanical eyes and see it as a set of basis states for the Universe. We fist look at the matter form a cardinal pint of view. This is the pint of view of information theory, where, for convenience, we transform all cardinal numbers to their logarithms.

Kolmogorov, A N , and Nathan Morrison (Translator) (With an added bibliography by A T Bharucha-Reid), Foundations of the Theory of Probability, Chelsea 1956 Preface: 'The purpose of this monograph is to give an axiomatic foundation for the theory of probability. ... This task would have been a rather hopeless one before the introduction of Lebesgue's theories of measure and integration. However, after Lebesgue's publication of his investigations, the analogies between measure of a set and mathematical expectation of a random variable became apparent. These analogies allowed of further extensions; thus, for example, various properties of independent random variables were seen to be incomplete analogy with the corresponding properties of orthogonal functions ... Weeks, Jeffrey R, The Shape of Space, CRC 2001 Amazon Editorial Reviews Book Description 'Maintaining the standard of excellence set by the previous edition, this textbook covers the basic geometry of two- and three-dimensional spaces Written by a master expositor, leading researcher in the field, and MacArthur Fellow, it includes experiments to determine the true shape of the Universe and contains illustrated examples and engaging exercises that teach mind-expanding ideas in an intuitive and informal way. Bridging the gap from geometry to the latest work in observational cosmology, the book illustrates the connection between geometry and the behavior of the physical Universe and explains how radiation remaining from the big bang may reveal the actual shape of the Universe.'
