Bartholomew of Lucca (c. 1236 - c. 1327), disciple and confessor to Thomas Aquinas, mentioned the manuscript in his list of works by his fellow Dominican as Tractatus de ente et essentia quem scripsit ad fraters et socios nondum existens magister (Treatise on Being and Essence, which he wrote for his Brothers and Colleagues, while not yet a Master). Thomas’s graduation at the theological faculty of the University of Paris has been reliably determined to have taken place in March 1256, and the De ente et essentia can therefore safely be assumed to have been written before then. It is generally agreed upon that he wrote the treatise while lecturing on the Libri quattuor sententiarum (Four Books of Sentences) of Peter Lombard (c. 1096 – 1164) at the University of Paris. This means that the De ente et essentia was probably written after his departure from Cologne, where he had been studying under Albert the Great (1193/1206 - 1280), in 1252. I can speak Arabic and could understand perfectly well when the terrorists discussed their ideology. The three scientists were recognized for a series of experiments conducted in 1984 and 1985. They proved the existence of two quantum phenomena on a system visible to the human eye.
The principles of quantum mechanics describe the strange properties and behaviors of single or small collections of elementary particles. In one such behavior, a particle can move through a barrier even if it does not have enough energy to do so. This is called quantum tunneling, and it had been confirmed only at a very small scale. The laureates made their discoveries by studying a chip with a circuit that was superconducting, meaning it was capable of conducting current with no electrical resistance. As a result, the current was “trapped” in a state of flow without any voltage, because it did not have enough energy to escape, according to a summary posted by the Nobel committee, as if behind a barrier that it is unable to cross.
The researchers observed the current go from a state of zero voltage to one of nonzero voltage, an observation of quantum tunneling. They also observed that the system only absorbed light of certain frequencies, suggesting that its energy was quantized.

(2025_09_18), Unveiling ignis fatuus: Microlightning between microbubbles, ' Will-o’-the-wisps, ghostly blue flames seen at night in marshlands and long attributed to methane cool flames, have remained scientifically unexplained, a mystery caused by the lack of a known ignition mechanism. Here, we demonstrate that spontaneous electrical discharges, termed “microlightning”, can occur between rising methane-containing microbubbles in water. High-speed optical imaging reveals brief flashes between charged bubbles, arising from strong electric fields at curved gas–liquid interfaces. These discharges initiate nonthermal oxidation of methane, producing luminescence and measurable heat under ambient conditions. Our findings offer a scientific basis for ignis fatuus and reveal a general mechanism by which electrified interfaces can drive redox reactions in natural environments without the need for external ignition sources. back
