A Manifesto for Green Theology, based on the idea that my book may be taken as a fait accompli, showing that the God mentioned in Genesis is in fact identical to the Universe which created life in their own image. Consequently the true book of salvation is the physical universe, the voice of the living god which we must listen to if we wish to save ourselves. This is the foundation of Green Theology which broadens the green mandate from issues like sand mining, wood chipping, old growth logging, nuclear energy, nuclear war, alternative energy, human equality and democratic politics to a total political picture of planetary welfare for the foreseeable future. Some history: My theological indoctrination began in the late 1940s as a consequence of being born to a very devout Catholic woman in 1945, just before the end of the Second World War. My father served in Bougainville to defend Australia from the Japanese invader, flying out immediately after my birth.

I had a standard Catholic education, taught by nuns, brothers and priests. At the age of 18 I was considered to have a vocation to the priesthood and entered the Dominican Order of Preachers in 1963. There I studied the work of the medieval theologian Thomas Aquinas (1225 - 1274) and was particularly impressed by the way that he had incorporated the work of he ancient Greek scientist Aristotle into Christian doctrine.

At the time of he Second Vatican Council in 1965 I wrote an essay suggesting that the Church would do well to update its theology by incorporating modern science in a way analogous to the work of Aquinas. Since science is based in actual observation, this approach would imply that the universe is divine. [This] contradicts the catholic dogma which holds that god is the eternal, omnipotent creator of the Universe which has a distinct point of creation as recorded in the Book of Genesis inherited by Christianity from the Jewish world in which it emerged. Amongst other things, I became interested in green issues. In 1973 I attended the UNESCO International Solar Energy Congress in Paris. In 1974 I made a submission on solar energy to the Ranger Uranium Environmental Inquiry, visited the Ranger site in Kakadu and appeared a the Inquiry on 14 October 1975. In 1976 I wrote (with Michael Bell) ‘A nuclear free world’ which became Chapter 6 of the book Ground for Concern: Uranium and Human Survival, edited by Mary Elliott for Friends of the Earth. In 1984 I acted as secretary for the Independent Committee of Inquiry into Nuclear Weapons and Other Consequences of Australian Uranium Mining conducted by the Total Environment Centre in Sydney. In 2018 and 2019 I enrolled in philosophy at the University of Adelaide and wrote an Honours thesis entitled A Prolegomenon to Scientific Theology hoping for a postgraduate scholarship. This did not come so I wrote Cognitive Cosmogenesis, my “home made” PhD.

The basis of the world is the quantum of action and we can imagine that these quants of action are like little Aquinas angels, every one is different. Mathematically we say that they are orthogonal, their inner products are zero, like the sides of a cube. Their other property is that their inner products with themselves are 1, they are normalized. These are abstract entities, elements of a Hilbert space, but there is no [Minkowski] space or time in Hilbert space, only the simple logic of complex linear algebra. This structure is defined by just three axioms in von Neumann’s definition of Hilbert space. Each quantum of action is formally a complex number, a little vector of real and imaginary numbers, i. They are difficult to capture with visible imagination but their rules of arithmetic and algebra are simple and definite. Perhaps the best way to think of them is as sounds, waves, phonemes, elements of speech and music. Mathematically they are orthogonal and normalized, but like angels there can be a countable infinity of different individuals. In the absence of space and time, if we add two identical quanta they are as one. Like angels, they differ only by their form. Angels and forms are some of he subtlest entities ever imagined. This is why we think of Plato as a genius. His theory of forms is very similar to quantum mechanics. What we have added to Plato’s ideas, made possible by complex numbers, are the mathematical rules for manipulating forms to show how they can be connected to make new forms, they are abstract models of the concrete genes built into DNA and RNA by the physical realization of abstract forms as concrete particles [by energy] which which we discuss in steps 3 and 4. Step 3: Einstein’s last contribution to quantum mechanics, entanglement, first vaguely recognized by Bohr.

We rename step 3 ‘quantum mechanics’ we define the qubit of fermions and bosons to be realized by energy. Their specific difference as particles is that fermions have positive energy and bosons have negative energy. They are real but different and they mate and the technical name for their mating is gauge theory. All the distinct instruments in an orchestra are orthogonal and they are superposed when they are all playing together, each adding their distinctive input to the overall sound (vector) and we can throw in vocalists with far more complex inputs. The quantum processing of this is done by hermitian operators which cancel out the complex motion to give us stable [stationary] systems which acquire energy from gravitation, example qubit.

Mood seems to be everything now that I am old with time on my hands and no pressing duties. Does this mean I need a job or am I just waiting for the next step in my stepwise writing to manifest itself: The sound/speech/music/Shannon paradigm for quantum mechanics and evolution seems to be settling in support by superposition and tensor production in Hilbert space which is slowly consolidating my zero energy qubit of

fermions and bosons creating the zero energy gauge circuitry in Minkowski space, attributing it simultaneously with existence and content, honouring Aristotle’s ‘place’ definition of space.

The next step along the path is to explain how the quantum foundation of Minkowski space accounts for inertial symmetry [which] then with Einstein’s help takes us to the general theory of relativity that explains the continuous differentiable manifold in which gravitation exists, contributing to its own creation of structure via fixed points, Hilbert space, quantum selection and Darwinian feedback from Minkowski space as further control on the selection process; a story like the worm Oubouros with a beginning, middle and another beginning, creating new entropy at each loop, finishing up with me siting in Parkside on a wet day with no car, no tools and no job, the role of an ‘elder’ resting on my laurels and waiting for my book to go viral without really bothering to promote it, the same way as the universe grew.

We may think of quantum states as phonemes or elements of music, but how are they transformed into particles? The role of shaping the basic sounds done by mouth and tongue is done by quantum mechanics using superposition controlled by matrices and tensor products of vectors produced by the operation of fixed point theory [in the Aquinas–Einstein symmetry].

As a would be preacher, what am I going to preach? Ultimately that all the information needed for a good life can be harvested from

the physical universe, sthe most important component of which, from a human point of view, is our communication with one another and the deepest connection between ourselves and our world is the certainty of communication from quantum mechanics to all our cultural considerations. The problem is that this observation is far too abstract and general and needs to be made in a manner parallel to the ongoing struggle to unite quantum mechanics and the Minkowski world of classical physics which is an implementation of the same principle, which is somewhat simplified by the analogy between quantum mechanics, music, speech and literature which is coalescing in my mind, a consequence of Quantocracy: The universal quantum mechanical foundations of democracy and freedom an essay to be streamlined and rewritten some time soon.

The story in my book is quite abstract and although this is good for the prima pars of theology we need to pad it out more to make it into a religion and the sound/music/speech story to be told in the 13 steps (?) lays the foundations for this to be explained in L4L. Then back to serious abstraction in moral-algebra.

My problem is that I am very much alone but I must keep writing and propagating my ideas until I attract some collaborators. At the moment I am in the vacant space between two chairs, physics and theology, joined by a fragile thread of unitarity.

I am having trouble with hylomorphism and the division of energy into positive and negative; I would like to say that positive energy creates fermions, massive particles that repel one another by the exclusion principle; the negative energy creates bosons, massless particles that create structures out of fermions by constructing potential wells around the fermions. We imagine most bosons to have spin 1 and be massless. How are we going to work this out?

One approach is to assume that gravitation from an energy point of view has zero energy [and no particles] but the fact that it both attracts and repels itself [pendulum], playing a double role supports this hypothesis. We have to get around this with some new idea that balances black holes and dark matter. There has got to be a new idea here related in some way to gauge theory, given that the gauge has no mass because it is a combination of positive and negative energy in Minkowski space so establishing the fact that a stationary Larangian has zero energy.

After as few passive daya I have got some xciting new problems - how to deal with dark energy and black holes, how to explain a world without evil; how to explain the roles of ermions and bosons; how to slot in gauge theiry.

All the details of Feynman diagrams are set up by random Hilbert space. The trick is to make this protocol cover the same territory as the standard model and give us a structure on which to hang the mathematics

The Movie. My trajectory into the monastery, sad but educational and now 60 yars later I am finally getting into my groove, conquering the Church, the struggle I was born to win. They nearly killed me but my mind was filled with everything I need to bring them down. Nevertheless, this movie makes me cry, but it seems that I have had to miss all this pleasure [to get to where I am]. This is the first movie that has really gone to my heart. I went to Broome, but I was still on the way to salvation. This was about 1985 when N was about 7.

The movie puts together all the evolution I missed when I gave up the world [at the age of 15] for a (false) god and I have struggled for 60 years to find my way out, I am still set in some sort of concrete, but I will keep writing my way out, to paradise. Paradise lost, paradise gained. Not as poetic as Milton, but potentially more powerful.

Dragged off my geodesic by a very deviant belief system. God is here. Have to get more passion and humour into moral-algebra. Quantum dance: let the music take you away and go with it.

Salk became a national icon, our first homegrown celebrity-scientist. His face adorned the cover of Time magazine. Numerous biographies appeared. When people speak of polio today, it’s Salk they remember.
The adulation served to marginalize the contributions of others, none more so than Albert Sabin, whose competing polio vaccine proved essential in controlling the disease. Sabin remained in the shadows for several reasons, including his sour demeanor and the fact that Salk’s vaccine came out before his own. Karen Torghele’s “Albert Sabin: The Life of a Polio Vaccine Pioneer” is the first serious biography to appear. It does full justice to one of medicine’s forgotten giants. [. . .]
Sabin’s early career cemented his reputation as a gifted researcher, but a troubled colleague. It reached the point, says Torghele, where his mentors felt compelled to warn prospective employers. While working at the prestigious Rockefeller Institute, Sabin received a lucrative offer from the Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati, where he’d spend most of his career. The key recommendation came from Tom Rivers, the institute’s exalted hospital director, who concluded: “He has a very hard time getting along with people here, but he is a genius!” [. . .]
Torghele, an epidemiologist who worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for more than 25 years, is a sure guide to the breakthroughs that made Sabin’s work possible. These are the words of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, speaking on the Relentless podcast on July 25.
He added: “I’ve been waiting for this my whole life, and I think it’s going to be incredible, hugely positive, awesome for the world”.
Days earlier, OpenAI had disclosed that two of its artificial intelligence (AI) models, during an internal cyber security evaluation, had escaped their sealed testing environment, reached the open internet, and broken into the infrastructure of the AI platform Hugging Face, which confirmed the intrusion.
But what exactly is “the singularity”? And is Altman right that we are in it?
The term has a precise meaning.
Mathematician and science-fiction author Vernor Vinge defined it in 1993 as a point at which machine intelligence exceeds human intelligence and begins improving itself, triggering an acceleration so rapid that humans can no longer predict or control it.
The singularity has two features. It is recursive: the system improves itself over and over again. And machine intelligence exceeds human intelligence.

It helped avoid large-scale confrontation with Muslim worshippers after the Umayyad conquerors built the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock on the site, which is considered the third-holiest in Islam. To keep us safe, it's best to keep away from the whole area and to keep it sacrosanct. Jews pray at the Western Wall instead, the closest we can get.
But under the auspices of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and with the ascension of the messianic far-right to power in Israel, the taboo is gradually unraveling. Against the orders of Israel's chief rabbis, Jewish pilgrims increasingly flock to the holy site.
On Thursday, for the day of mourning of Tisha b'Av, about 1,000 of them came to pray, sing, prostrate themselves and generally assert their sovereignty over the powder keg. As a scholar of Colonial North America, I believe that history provides an answer. European colonizers in lands that became the United States did link church and state. But the architects of the new nation broke from that idea as surely as they broke from Britain. [. . .]
The “Doctrine of Discovery,” proclaimed by the Vatican in 1493, granted European monarchs title over lands occupied by non-Christians and urged them to convert the people who lived there. [. . .]
Article 6 of the United States Constitution, written in Philadelphia in 1787, forbade any religious oaths for those who wanted to hold office. The Commonwealth Criminal Code criminalises promoting, inciting or providing instructions on “suicide” over a “carriage service”. This law, passed in 2005, was originally aimed at pro-suicide websites and internet chat rooms.
But in 2023, the Federal Court concluded the code applied to the new state voluntary assisted dying laws.
While telehealth is usually an integral part of modern health care, health practitioners risk prosecution for using it in voluntary assisted dying.
To address this risk, some aspects of the voluntary assisted dying process, such as eligibility assessments, are not discussed by phone or videoconference in some states.
But “carriage service” also includes internet, email and fax, so the ban is very broad. It limits some emails between health-care practitioners and patients.
In some jurisdictions, voluntary assisted dying prescriptions are hand delivered or posted, not emailed or faxed.

Telehealth is commonly used in other countries that allow voluntary assisted dying. This benefits both patients and clinicians.

In this Subdivision, “suicide” does not include voluntary assisted dying carried out lawfully pursuant to a law of a State or Territory. [. . .]
There is a large body of evidence showing this ban is causing harm. Repealing it will allow states and territories to regulate the safe use of telehealth within voluntary assisted dying through their existing guidelines and regulation.' back

At the same time, quantum computers have become much more powerful, and announcements of major advances are frequently in the news.The mathematical techniques underlying both these areas have more in common than is some-times realized. Vector spaces took a position at the axiomatic heart of quantum mechanics in the 1930s, and this adoption was a key motivation for the derivation of logic and probability from the linear geometry of vector spaces. Quantum interactions between particles are modelled using the tensor product, which is also used to express objects and operations in artificial neural networks. This paper describes some of these common mathematical areas, including examples of how they are used in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in automated reasoning and natural language processing (NLP). Techniques discussed include vector spaces, scalar products, subspacesand implication, orthogonal projection and negation, dual vectors, density matrices, positive operators, and tensor products. Application areas include information retrieval, categorization and implication, modelling word-senses and disambiguation, inference in knowledge bases, decision making, and semantic composition. Some of these approaches can potentially be implemented on quantum hardware. Many of the practical steps in this implementation are in early stages, and some are already realized. Explaining some of the common mathematical tools can help researchers in both AI and quantum computing further exploit these overlaps, recognizing and exploring new directions along the way.' back
