Moving into attack mode on the RCC. The corruption comes from above, with the Pope stacking the electoral college.

One can only go ahead on a feeling of certainty, whatever the evidence.

TNRP is starting to feel real, its reality brought into focus.

LOVE makes the world go round. By its FRUITS (EMANATIONS, EVENTS) you will know it.

The first emanation of love is religion, then culture, politics, economics, design, work and heaven -> LOVE REALIZED.

LOVE works in MINDSPACE/PHYSICAL SPACE
POSSIBILITY/REALITY

SYMMETRY
Cantor arrived at set theory while studying the real line. In the light of his genius, this seemingly smooth and innocuous object revealed the infinity of detailed structure represented by the transfinite cardinal and ordinal numbers.

Open letter to the head of the School of Theology, Australian Catholic University. The term 'God' is shorthand for the whole, however it may be imagined or described.

Insofar as one can account intellectually for one's big changes in life, I left the Order of Preachers because of the insight I gained by repeated and intense reading of Bernard Lonergan's Insight. In those days of madness I would get up at 3 am to get a bit of reading in before meditation started in the

[page 162]

choir at 5.30. Eventually I was busted (as I was for reading forbidden books, being too friendly with my friends and defending a scientific view of the world against one derived from the ancient tales of lust, murder, genocide and magic to be found in the books of the Bible.)

So I went, armed with a lifelong question. Is the Universe divine? and its equivalent, are we part of god, persons in a divine multiplicity?

Lonergan was my second love. The first was Thomas Aquinas. On reading Lonergan I felt that Insight was a faithful translation of Thomas' metaphysics. But the clarity brought by Lonergan's translation revealed a fatal flaw in the Thomistic approach to god.

I feel that I can now say that on the balance of probabilities, religion is influencing the conduct of theology in the ACU. This is an institutional problem and nothing personal, so that it is

[page 163]

natural to deal with it in the public media. It is a matter of politics, the process by which we establish the rules of our communal existence.

The RCC is a very ancient and powerful organization that insists on a very specific description of reality inscribed in official dogma. At the height of the rage for infallibility, some 'fathers' of the first Vatican Council endorsed the following text: [Denzinger, Manning]

. . .

War and peace are interactions at the domain walls of a multiphasic Universe. We work it out a) in spacetime; b) in phase spaces which provide a finer resolution.

As in each building operation, one arranges the world with a view to achieving some result, or does something similar at all scales up to the lifetime.

Potential is the guiding function of the actual, the actual provides constraints on the potential.

Religion as technology == construction of human mindspace directed by the findings of theology.

There is a feeling of peace, relaxation and power resulting form this final break with the RCC. At last I have a well defined enemy as a terminus a quo for my endeavours. This is not personal in the human space, since human nature, with a half life in the order of perhaps 100 kyr if effectively eternal from the point of view of human corporations whose half

lives are more in the vicinity of 100 years. It is clear that peace on earth requires corporations that accept the full bandwidth of human being, ie the full human mindspace. All corporations that rely for their existence on the suppression of human existence must be eradicated. For practical purposes this means dealing with the Judaeo-Christian corporation.

Religions as human corporations depend upon downloading infants with their own worldview in order to establish a community of thought and action. They also have mechanisms for destroying individuals who for one reason or another deviate from the official line.

If Lovelock turns out to be right in his view of things, as I believe he is, we will be viewing the Earth as a coherent system of life, self regulating and self-changing, a sort of immense living organism.' Lovelock, James, "Gaia as seen through the atmosphere", Atmospheric Environment, 6, , 1972, page 579-580. 'The purpose of this letter is to suggest that life at an early stage of its evolution acquired the capacity to control the global environment to suit its needs, and that this capacity has persisted and is still in use. In this view the sum total of species is more than just a Catalogue, "The Biosphere", and like other associations in biology is an entity with properties greater than the simple sum of its parts. Such a large creature, even if only hypothetical, with the powerful capacity to homeostat the planetary environment needs a name: I am indebted to Mr William Golding for suggesting the use of the Greek personification of mother Earth, "Gaia".' . back
